Scholarship Description

To enter the essay program, write a short paper on “How Adversity Has Affected Your Life.” This Essay Program is available to prospective or current undergraduate students who are attending an accredited college or university anywhere in the United States. Applicants must submit a 750 word essay explaining an adversity they have dealt with in life, how they overcame it, and how this shaped them to be the person they are today.

Please email submissions to GauthierAmedeeScholarship@gmail.com no later than May 31, 2017. Please be sure to title the subject line “Gauthier Amedee College Scholarship Essay Program.”

Essay Description

Often in life, we are faced with obstacles that must be overcome to grow both interpersonally and personally as individuals. This essay should reflect a situation where either you or a loved one has had to face adversity, whether it be through drug or alcohol addiction, financial difficulty, being bullied as a child, racial injustice, or living with a disabled family member to name a few. Although we are thrown these curveballs in life, the most important thing is how you overcome and grow from these hardships.

Starting September 1, 2016, you can submit a 750-word essay on this issue, and enter to win a $1,000 scholarship.

Submission rules

To be eligible, send your letter to GauthierAmedeeScholarship@gmail.com by 5/31/2017 and include the following information in the body of your email: First Name, Last Name, Current School, Academic Standing as of Spring ‘16 (Freshman, Sophomore, etc.), College or University Attended, and Major (if applicable).

Format: Send only Microsoft Word document entries, with the file name “FirstName_LastName_MMDDYY”. Only entries submitted in this format will be considered. Essays must be 750 words, typed, double-spaced, and use standard margins.
